Geodynamics: Lithosphere-Asthenosphere evolution in space and time

The geodynamic context of the magmatic systems has a profound effect in the architecture of volcanoes. Volcanic and tectonic processes interact in a complex manner, creating cascading and feedback loops. We aim at a quantitative understanding of deformation processes affecting the lithosphere (kinematics and rheological laws), our research attempts to integrate observation from instantaneous single earthquakes and eruptions to the formation of volcanoes at geological time scale. In doing so, we integrate geophysical, geodetic and geological methodologies to unravel the multiscale evolution of volcanic provinces, and how do they modify the structure of the lithosphere.
