Cultural Landscapes and Heritage at Risk
This research focuses on analyzing the human ecological footprint and long-term strategies of land occupation and management in cultural landscapes threatened by recent changes. The study addresses three main sub-themes:
1. Precise identification and monitoring of archaeological elements using remote sensing tools,
2. Diachronic mapping of land use trends and landscape change, and
3. Revalorization of at-risk cultural heritage and traditional ecological practices to reassess the value of cultural landscapes.
Case studies include, among others, the archaeological landscapes of the Indus Civilization in South Asia, pastoralism and funerary practices in Mongolia, and the legacies of colonial contact and conflict archaeology in contemporary contexts in mainland Spain and the Canary Islands.
