He graduated in Biology from the University of La Laguna with an Extraordinary Award, and later completed a Master’s degree in Plant Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). He obtained his PhD in Biotechnology at the Institute for Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology (CSIC/UPV) under the supervision of José Miguel Mulet Salort, working on approaches to characterize and improve tolerance to abiotic stresses in broccoli and other crops, supported by an FPU fellowship. He also carried out a predoctoral research stay in the laboratory of Julian I. Schroeder at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Agrobiotechnology group at IPNA-CSIC, supported by a contract linked to the ResilCrops project of the Interreg Atlantic Area programme, under the supervision of Andrés A. Borges Rodríguez.
