Òscar Castillo Agudo holds a BSc in Biology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2020) and an MSc in Biodiversity from the Universitat de Barcelona (2022). He previously worked as a project-associated technician at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), where he focused on botany and evolutionary biology.
Òscar is currently a PhD researcher at the IPNA, funded through a predoctoral FPI fellowship from the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture and the ACIISI. His doctoral research focuses on the evolutionary history and diversification of Sonchus and Reichardia (Cichorieae, Asteraceae) in the Canary Islands, using a Hyb-Seq approach. His PhD thesis is entitled “Radiations of Sonchus and Reichardia (Cichorieae, Asteraceae) in the Canary Islands: a Hyb-Seq approach.”
